This is a fun and easy activity to do with children. First gather up your supplies. You'll need:

  • a large pine cone
  • peanut butter
  • paper plate or foil
  • plastic knife or dull table knife
  • birdseed
  • string, ribbon or thin wire
  1. First attach the string, ribbon or thin wire to the top of the pine cone, wrap it tightly about 3 sections down.
  2. Use the knife to spread peanut butter inside the sections of the pine cone and on the outside edges.
  3. Pour some birdseed onto the plate or foil and roll the pine cone in it.
  4. You can tie a bow to the top of the pine cone if you wish.
  5. Hang it from a tree where you can see the birds enjoying your treat.

Note: Peanut butter will melt in warm climates so save this for a winter time activity
